Building a Place Where Every Child Can Thrive
At Thrive Autism, our long-term vision is clear: to create Norfolk’s first state-of-the-art Autism Centre, a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space designed specifically for autistic children and young people, along with their families and caregivers.
We know that families in our region face long waiting lists, limited support, and a lack of places where their children can feel truly accepted. Our centre will change that, providing both specialist facilities and a supportive community under one roof.
What the Centre Will Include
The Thrive Autism Centre will bring together a wide range of tailored spaces and services, including:
- Sensory rooms with cutting-edge equipment to support regulation and wellbeing.
- Therapy rooms offering access to speech, occupational, and music therapies.
- Soft-play and teen zones for safe and inclusive recreation.
- Craft and projection rooms for creativity and engagement.
- Outdoor play areas and a sensory garden for nature-based learning and relaxation.
- A family café and birthday party room to encourage community and celebration.
- Training and meeting spaces to provide advice, workshops, and education for families, carers, and professionals.
This centre will not only support children and young people, but also act as a hub for parents, carers, and the wider community to connect, learn, and share experiences.
Why It Matters
Currently, Norfolk has no specialist centre of this kind. Families are left without the resources they need, children wait years for support, and carers struggle to find respite. Our Autism Centre will fill this gap, offering a holistic approach that brings together play, therapy, education, and community.
It will be a place where:
- Children and young people can play, learn, and build friendships without fear of judgement.
- Families and carers can find respite, guidance, and peer support.
- The wider community can access education and training, building greater understanding and inclusivity.
How We’ll Get There
We know this ambition will take time, which is why we’ve created a three-stage plan:
- Short Term (Year One): Provide immediate services such as family fun days, EHCP/DLA support and funding, therapy sessions, respite breaks, and parent/carer coffee mornings.
- Medium Term (Year Two): Secure temporary premises to bring more services under one roof and expand our activities to include sensory rooms, music and craft therapies, and youth support.
- Long Term (Years Three-Five): Open the Thrive Autism Centre, a purpose-built facility with state-of-the-art equipment and spaces dedicated to supporting neurodiverse children and their families.
